MiWay Life Insurance: Who Are MiWay?

MiWay Life Insurance is provided by MiWay, a relatively new company on the South African market. The company is backed by Santam, which in turn is owned by Sanlam, a large financial services group. This means that MiWay has strong financial backing even though it is a new company. The current board of directors of MiWay is headed by Rene Otto, and the company employs over 1200 staff. One important thing to note about MiWay life insurance is that it is only offered to current MiWay vehicle insurance customers. In other words, you must have car insurance from MiWay in order to qualify for their life insurance policy.

Where is the Head Office of Miway Life Insurance?

You can find MiWay Life Insurance's head office at 338 16th Road, Randjes Park, Midrand. They also have a postal address at PostNet Suite #382, Private Bag X121, Halfway House, 1685.

Services Provided by MiWay Insurance

MiWay Insurance provide for a variety of different short term insurance needs. These include car, home, business, home contents, building and life insurance options.

Credit Life Insurance with Miway Insurance

MiWay life insurance is marketed under the name MiWay Credit Life Insurance. MiWay offer life insurance only to current vehicle insurance customers, and their policy is basically designed to pay off car loans or financing in the event of death. Unfortunately, other than this, there is very little information about the policy on the MiWay website. We looked long and hard but the only details we could find about the policy were the following:

  • According to the website the policy is designed to give you peace of mind in case of death, disability or serious illness, so presumably the policy includes not only a life insurance plan but also a disability plan and a dread disease plan;

  • Again, according to the MiWay website, premiums are flexible and affordable, presumably this means that monthly premiums will differ depending on which options you choose and your current health and age;

  • The website also promises optional add on benefits to suit your needs and budget, though it does not specify what these benefits are;

  • Finally, the website says that there are rewards whether you claim or don't claim, though again, what those rewards are is not specified.

Obviously, this is not a lot of information about the MiWay Life Insurance policy. There is no information about how much coverage you can expect, or what the promised add on benefits are, for example. This makes learning about MiWay Credit Life Insurance difficult.

Customer Reviews for MiWay Life Insurance

Information from Hellopeter, a website that allows customers to write reviews about various companies and service providers, shows that MiWay Insurance has received 7672 reports in the last twelve months. This is a large number of reports compared to many other companies possibly indicating the large amount of customers that they have. Of these reports 81% were positive, and 19% were negative giving them an obvious overal positive average. For potential customers, this is of course encouraging. The relatively few complaints that did appear were about billing and general customer service. Nearly all the reports had a response from a MiWay customer service representative. This indicates that despite the few complaints, MiWay are working hard on customer service issues which already shows based on the statistics.

Is the MiWay Life Insurance Website User Friendly?

MiWay does offer many different insurance products, and it must be said that in general their website is easy to navigate and there is MiWay Life Insuranceplenty of information available about their products. However, this does not apply to the life insurance section of their site. Firstly, finding the life insurance section itself was difficult, there are no links from the home page or on their products page. Eventually, we found the MiWay Credit Life Insurance policy. As mentioned above, there was very little information given about this policy, making it difficult for potential customers to know what they might be getting. Whilst we feel that overall the MiWay website is quite user friendly, the company could definitely do more to make the life insurance section both easier to find and more informative unless there is a reason they're 'hiding' their life insurance information?

MiWay Life Insurance: The Bottom Line

MiWay life insurance is sold under the name MiWay Credit Life Insurance, and is available only to customers who hold MiWay vehicle insurance. Unfortunately we were unable to fully evaluate the quality of the policy compared to other companies or in general since so little, or almost no, information is available about it on their website. AS for customer service, MiWay insurance an 81% positive rating on Hellopeter which is encouraging. As always, and due to the importance of this type of policy which can leave your loved ones with everything – or nothing – we strongly advise that you read about the company you are considering before finalizing the policy and get at least 2 insurance quotes. For your convenience, you can get up to 2 Free life insurance quotes by filling in the form on the top right.
