Who are AllLife?
AllLife was founded in 2004 with the goal of providing life insurance options for people living with HIV or diabetes. The company specialises in giving insurance coverage to customers who have these diseases and who commit to following a monitoring and treatment programme. All of the company's policies are underwritten (financially backed) by Centriq, which in turn is backed by Santam. The current managing director of AllLife is Ross Beerman, who, along with Paul Stanley and Dr. Avron Urison, founded the company.
Where is AllLife Located?
The headquarters for AllLife Insurance are located at 39, Wierda Road West, Wierda Valley, Sandton. The company also has a mailing address at P.O. Box 787159, Sandton 2196.
Which Services Do AllLife Provide?
AllLife are a speciality insurance provider, meaning that they provide insurance solutions for a specific set of people. In this case, the company provides life cover and disability insurance for HIV positive customers, as well as life cover for diabetic customers.
AllLife HIV Life Cover
AllLife provides insurance to HIV positive clients who agree to undergo health monitoring and treatment. In order to qualify for these policies, the patient must agree to blood testing every six months. Should two consecutive tests show increased viral load (more HIV in your system) you will be required to contact your health provider and possibly change your drug regime. Failing to adhere to your treatment plan will make your life insurance invalid.
HIV Life Cover
AllLife offers three policies for basic life insurance, which are as follows:
-
Advantage Term Life, this is a life insurance policy for a set term, anywhere between ten and twenty years depending on the coverage that you choose;
-
Advantage Whole Life, this is a life insurance policy that covers you for as long as you keep paying premiums, there is the option to add escalating premiums to this policy which means that premiums will be cheaper at the beginning of the policy but will increase by 5% each year;
-
Advantage Loan Protector Life, which is designed to pay of outstanding loans after death, the policy is for either 10 or 20 year loans and covers loans that are paid monthly on a regular basis.
This is not a lot of information about AllLife's policies, but is unfortunately all that was available on the company's website. We do not know how much coverage is offered, for example, or whether funeral cover may be included in the policies. This may make comparison shopping a little difficult.
HIV Life and Disability Cover
AllLife also offers a combination life and disability policy. In the event of permanent disability, the policy will pay a lump sum, however the policy will NOT pay out upon death if a disability pay out has been made. If the insured does not become permanently disabled, then the policy will pay out after death as normal. The important features of this policy are as follows:
-
Disability cover can be added to any of the above mentioned life insurance plans, and will pay out 75% of the life insurance cover if the insured becomes permanently disabled;
-
There is a six month waiting period before a permanent disability claim can be made;
-
The insured must have appropriate treatment by specialist doctors if necessary before a claim can be made;
-
Should the insured be diagnosed with any of the conditions meeting the World Health Organisation's AIDS Stage 4 conditions, they will be considered permanently disabled (these conditions include HIV wasting syndrome, Lymphoma, and extrapulmonary TB, a full list can be found on AllLife's website).
AllLife Diabetes Life Cover
AllLife also provides life insurance for clients living with Diabetes Type 1 or Type 2. All clients must agree to undergo monitoring, including reporting blood test results every nine months, and proving that medical care is being taken. Should you fail to keep up with the treatment or monitoring programmes outlined by AllLife your life insurance policy will become invalid.
Diabetes Life Cover
There are two policies offered by AllLife for diabetic clients:
-
Essential Whole Life, which provides insurance coverage for as long as you pay monthly premiums;
-
Essential Loan Protector Life, which is identical to the above mentioned “Advantage Loan Protector Life” and is designed to pay of loans on the event of death.
There is a little more information provided by AllLife about their diabetic life insurance policy, which may or may not also apply to their HIV policies. There are several options available when choosing your policy. You may decide how much coverage you would like, with more coverage costing more expensive premiums, and you may also choose different premium payment methods. For example, you can choose fixed premiums (which never change), escalating premiums (which start out small and increase over time), and you may also choose options that add more coverage and cost more over time.
How Are the Customer Reviews for AllLife?
The consumer review website Hellopeter registers only 15 comments about AllLife from the last twelve months. AllLife is a speciality provider, so it's to be expected that they have a low number of reviews, Unfortunately, just 15 reports makes it almost impossible to really judge what people think about the company and it would be unprofessional of us to do so.
How User Friendly is www.allife.co.za?
The AllLife website is very simple, it's easy to navigate and easy to find the policies that you're looking for. There is not a lot of information provided, and in some cases (particularly with the HIV life insurance options) we found ourselves with more questions than answers. However, it's possible that the speciality niche of the company means that giving more information is impossible, since terms and conditions may very much depend on the current state of health of the potential client. We also found that information did include a fair amount of technical life insurance terms and definitions that may not be understood by potential customers, and, of course, there was a lot of medical terminology as well. Whilst AllLife's website does give a neat overview of their policy options, we think that if they explained the profesional terms using day to day wording, it would make things more understandable to the average customer.
AllLife in Summary
AllLife Insurance offers life insurance options for customers living with HIV and diabetes. Overall the company website was easy to use and gave a good overview of the policies available. It would be even better if there was a bit more information and if some of the professional terms were explained. Shopping for insurance can be difficult, and it's true that not all insurance companies offer policies that will cover clients with certain conditions, though many are beginning to. That said, we advise that you always compare between a couple of companies before making your decision and that you get at least 2-3 life insurance quotes. You can do just that by completing the form on the top right and an agent will get back to you with up to 2 Free life insurance quotes.
